“On Sept. 1, 2018, Merrell sent 50 photographers out on the trail in all 50 states. What they created together is an unscripted portrait of America, showcasing how the trail unites us all. No paid models. Just real people enjoying the outdoors on our nation’s trails. Join us as we celebrate the diversity that exists and how we come together to form #OneTrail.”
When Brett and I were contacted to represent North Dakota photographers, we immediately jumped on board. We cleared off the entire weekend, prepped all the camera gear, booked hotels & road tripped to the western side of the state! We started conversations with hikers and asked if we could take their portraits for this incredible project, with almost all of them agreeing right away. These outdoor enthusiasts told us their stories, the best parts of the trails, and where they were headed to next. We found RV’ers crossing off ND from their state park list, and entire families hitting the trails together. An off-duty Park Ranger shared the best views in the park along with where to find the bison at the end of the day – which we did! We thoroughly enjoyed our day in nature and drove back home to Fargo with plans to revisit beautiful western North Dakota!
